GLENN HANNER

BIO

I was born in Honolulu in 1985, the son of a Nicaraguan immigrant and a professional bassoonist. Growing up in a house filled with music and different cultures, I naturally gravitated toward art—drawn to the way light, expression, and small moments tell a story.

I paint what interests me: quiet, familiar scenes, fleeting expressions, the things we often overlook but that say a lot about who we are. My work is rooted in figurative painting and portraiture, shaped by mentors from the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Savannah College of Art and Design. I studied at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, but most of my learning has come from simply observing life and trying to put it on canvas.
